The city of Bend is mourning after a teenager broke into an elementary school and shot and killed three students and one teacher. As the community comes together to grieve, this may be the first experience with death for many young kids in Bend.
The Dougy Center specializes in childhood grief counseling. Professionals there say that while everything is still fresh, the best thing to do is let a child know you are here for them and willing to have difficult conversations.
